100NL AA check min-raised
Villain has typical TAG stats. He's done nothing out of the ordinary. I feel like such a wuss for folding. Any better lines?
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (9 handed) Hero ($97.50) Button ($58.20) SB ($94.45) BB ($72.20) UTG ($108.90) UTG+1 ($203.90) MP1 ($82.85) MP2 ($99) MP3 ($105.95) Preflop: Hero is CO with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. The fold is fine. Calling and evaluating on the turn is probably better though.

Re: 100NL AA check min-raised
This isn't terribly coherent, but....
My initial reaction was astonishment, but maybe I'm a low-limit monkey. First thought: you have position and what may very well be the best hand, and you're folding getting 4.5:1 pot odds?!? You should at least call down and look up his strong K. BUT, I realize that if you call, and villain really has a hand, you're probably playing for your stack. BUT, a typical TAG doesn't check-MINraise the flop, so what kind of player is he really? If he's a TAG: he called from UTG, so he doesn't have KK, he *might* have JJ, could easily have 66. That's all you're behind. He certainly doesn't have two pair because he would have folded any two pair hand preflop. But he could easily have KQ, AJs, or another pair -- even AK -- and be reading you for a simple flop cb. After all, you raised from CO, your range is pretty wide. So he raises to test you, and if you call he's probably done. BUT, if he's truly a TAG, he probably folds KQ, AJ preflop to your raise -- but given you raised from CO, maybe not, who knows. If he does, he's sporting a set of sixes, and good fold. I think I'd call and see what he does on the turn. If he fires hard, I guess I'm done, absent an A falling. But he may check again, or bet small -- minraisers often do -- and you may get to showdown cheaply with best hand. I'd be very interested to hear reasoning from posters who play this hand aggressively after villain's raise. |

Re: 100NL AA check min-raised
Villain is trying to protect against the straight and flush draws here so you can discount them for his range. Some villains play AK and QQ this way, which are the only hands that hero has crushed. KK, JJ, KJ and 66 have hero is a world of hurt.
I probably call here because there are many scare cards that could hit the truna nd slow villain down. If villain is willing to offer a cheap showdown, I think I try to get it. If he comes out guns blazing on the turn, I am done with the hand |

Re: 100NL AA check min-raised
Thanks for the responses. I see how calling and re-evaluating on the turn (with position) was another (better) way to play this.

Re: 100NL AA check min-raised
Does the 50NL in anyone else say PUSH?
I don't play at these stakes, so the first that that came to mind was AK. |

[/ QUOTE ] againt a donk yes. 25NL would be instapush, and insta call by KQo I'm in the call and re-evaluate on the turn camp. If I was sure this player would only call this raise with AK,AA-JJ oop then I think call>fold>3bet in this spot. |
