Default Floaty McFloat

No specific reads at all as I was playing alot of tables at the time, but i'd noticed that villain was picking quite a few pots both preflop and with c-bets (also MP is a donk who was constantly calling preflop and folding to c-bets, i wasn't worried about him behind me on the flop). Anyways, I decide to float and get myself into a pickle. Any thoughts on where I am on this river?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $2 BB (6 handed) converter

MP ($113.20)
CO ($28.65)
Button ($249.50)
SB ($206.85)
BB ($196.35)
Hero ($317.10)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
Hero calls $2, MP calls $2, 2 folds, SB raises to $8, 1 fold, Hero calls $6, MP calls $6.

Flop: ($26) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB bets $12, Hero calls $12, MP folds.

Turn: ($50) K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $30, SB calls $30.

River: ($110) 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB bets $156.85 (All-In)

Ouch, tough one, but I think I'm calling hoping to see aces up.

I would fold river. But if you want this pot i would generally raise the flop. And if you want to float it then bet more on the turn.

Also calling flop with player yet to act isn't too great either.

Pot turn?

I just don't see many hands that villain is folding to a pot bet but not to a 3/5 pot bet.

completely agree, guy behind me was super passive though, just looked him up now and saw he had 55 vpip with .5 aggression factor

I think you would be surprised how many villains look you up with KQ here. I could be wrong on this as i don't really float that often but i also think i would much rather float in a raised pot on an unders flop as the majority of 27/6 villains will have missed this flop while a flop with an A and a K is much more likely to have hit them IMO.

yeah i wouldn't float on this flop against a 27/6 opponent; however, this guy had been making more than his share of preflop raises and c-bets

Also, I kinda like floating on Ace-rag-rag board, as the raiser will always put you on an ace when you call, and many times will lay down second pair or a medium pocket pair more easily because they always put you on that ace.

i don't mind the float i guess, but i'd never do it with another guy behind me, even if he is super passive, it still just makes it more likely someone in the hand has an ace.

i have no idea what he has on the river, so i would probably call. but my guesses to his hand in order are AA, KK, and QQ.
