Is PokerTracker becoming a necessary tool? I've just been getting into online poker at $1/2 at PP and it seems on this forum as if everyone has pokertracker or some similar software. I've been winning a lot, then losing a lot. Is this something i should really have to improve? What percentage of players would you guess already use software like this? Thanks!

Once you get serious about playing, its very much worth the purchase. I can't imagine not having it at this point.

PokerTracker is +EV. If you are playing poker to make money and you will be playing a lot of hands online then you will be better off getting it.

If you use PT and Gametime+ it is a lot easier to improve your game

PT is worth it, I'm not sure about a HUD. I think i personally make call downs i wouldn't make vs opponents having misread their stats OR basing reads upon a stat such as WTSD/W$SD with a limited OR BIAS(i.e. hot run) sample size.
I'll be taking 2 weeks off from PA to test this though. |

A lot of people overlook one of the best values of the HUD: Table Selection! I haven't found a better way to quickly identify the quality of a table other than having my HUD identify the players at the table. Use pokertracker, us a HUD, just don't use stat reads at the expense of table reads.

I picked up PokerOffice through the Empire promotion, and I was wondering if PT offers any similar kind of deals, even occassionally? PO v2 is amazing, but it doesn't cover the sites I typically play at yet.

I find that analyzing stats helps pick up the more subtle leaks in your game.
For example, looking at my hands played by position, I noticed that I was disciplined from UTG, but from UTG+1 I made too many loose calls and ill-advised raises. My mindset being that my position wasn't "that" bad. Without PT, I probably wouldn't have spotted this. |
