Default How to get started in LHE HU?

I've always been intrigued by the idea of HU matches. I know that some 2+2ers play HU, but I always wondered how one gets started. There's no literature on the subject. Do you just hop onto the tables, and tell yourself that you're willing to lose a lot of money in the process?

Also, which limits are beatable? For the 2/4 HU game on UB, I believe the rake is 0.50 per pot. The edge necessary to overcome that rake seems like it'd be ridiculously high.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I'd just start at the micro tables on stars until you get a feel for it. Also search around, there are some good HU threads hiding around.

what they said, plus get familiar with hand values HU, what you can call with, which is just about any hand really, except the lower crap hands while getting odds you do have to factor in playability. which is essentially why you toss hands like 62, etc.

BUT then you have to factor in your opponent, so some hands you might toss for playability issues you would play or raise/re-raise with because maybe this guy folds a ton or hes just so predicatable you can easily put him on hands, know when to back off, etc.

I have never played heads up ever. I recently went to doyles room and they have NL sng's for .10 I won and it got me started on the cheap.

Was a blast and that is what brought me to this part of 2+2 and this post is the first one I spotted.

U need to be extremly aggressive with nothing at all. He will bluff a lot (or whatever we should call it in HU when we bet without a hand, it really isnt bluff in the normal sense because there is such a big chance that the other got nothing so u really dont know where u are with Qhigh on turn) so u need to rebluff a lot. Rebluffing is really tricky.

Start playing HU-tourneys for $5 or $10.

I also am curious as to how high you have to play to really beat the rake with a "minor" advantage over your oppenent. I know this is an "arbitrary" question....just looking for some "arbitrary" answers
