Default brag: Why open-pushing AA for 50 BB is a good idea

Very first hand, UTG with aces... why not? I'm playing the 22's because I'm sick of losing days and want a nice low-stress lifestyle right now. They did not fail to deliver.

PartyPoker $22 Regular Tournament, Big Blind is t40 (6 handed)
Converter on pregopoker.com

Hero (t2000)
UTG+1 (t2000)
CO (t2000)
Button (t2000)
SB (t2000)
BB (t2000)

Preflop: Hero is in UTG with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
<font color="red">Hero raises all-in t2000</font>, <font color="gray">UTG+1 folds</font>, <font color="gray">CO folds</font>, <font color="gray">Button folds</font>, SB calls all-in, BB calls all-in.

Flop: (t6000) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)

Turn: (t6000) 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)

River: (t6000) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)

Hero has A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (a pair of aces)
SB has Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (a pair of jacks)
BB has 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (a pair of nines)

Dorks. They knew I had aces and they still called. They called because they couldn't help it.

Sometimes I'll make terrible plays in poker and convince myself that I'm good, too.

Actually, if you do the math on this it doesn't have to work all that often to be +EV. My "normal" EV is about +300 chips here, so being a 4:1 favorite over a single caller, if it works (I get called) 1/4 of the time, I come out ahead.

Funny part is how just overbetting the pot won't work here, everyone would fold, but all-in, and you get callers.

It's amazing.

I was messing around once and decided to open two $11 SnGs at party and go all-in every hand. I got called the first hand on both tables by very marginal hands and lost both times. I quit then.

Yeah... I imagine there's some deeper psychology at play here since the only way to get called on an overbet here is to go all-in. I've been doing this every once in a while and get called somewhere near half the time (small sample of course). It has to be the very first hand and I have to be UTG or UTG+1. One time I got called by 22. Maybe he thought I was bluffing with 75o and wanted to catch me.

I know we all know this but I had to run it anyway.

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 49.6984 % 48.26% 01.44% { 7c5d }
Hand 2: 50.3016 % 48.86% 01.44% { 2c2s }

Change it to 2c2d and 7c5d is ahead . There is that dead money in the blinds, of course, making it a clearly +EV call . . .
