Very new to NL. How'd I do post flop here. After the flop, I figure the button either has a Jack or a diamond. If the river bet had been any bigger, I would have folded. How'd I do? Any thoughts on betting if a river diamond hits?

Bet more on the flop, bet the turn.

Betting on a river diamond is really bad.

got pt stats on him? assuming you dont,

preflop is fine.

flop is fine.

i agree with quark; i think you absolutely must bet the turn. if you get another call or he raises, you can confidently shut down because he's got a J or better. assuming you don't lead for some reason, your play is meh -- i think you are almost always beat here, so i usually fold. however, it's only $2 to win $9 (and hey, big implied odds if you hit your two-outer) so you don't have to be winning often for a call to be +EV.

similar situation on river since you're facing another tiny bet. board has paired now though (and you can no longer draw to your two outs) and i just don't see you beating much. as played up to this point, i fold on the river.

I didn't have any stats on him at the time. But now after 150 hands he's 50/7.69/.67. Oddly enough, his aggression factor on the river is 3.0.

At the time of the hand, he was yelling at others and being a jerk.

i'm glad to hear he was yelling at others and being a jerk, because i advocate that kind of behavior during online poker sessions.

unfortunately, my respect for him ends there, since his stats indicate that he is a hee-hawing, leaf-eating toolhead.

given your read, i guess i like your river play slightly more ... i think you must bet the turn though, no question about it.
