Default Hold\'em on the Come: Limit Hold\'em Strategy for Drawing

I just received an email from Amazon about this upcoming book. Does anyone know anything about it or the author, Rolf Slotboom?

i'm hoping this book is the same format as How Good Is Your Limit Hold'em. If it is I think it will be well worth it.

I find books that take you through the whole play of a hand in question and answer (multiple choice) superbly helpful even if i don't agree with some of the advice.

I think the unofficial 2+2 view is that Slotboom is weak-tight.

Can you name two authors where the unofficial view is not weak-tight? I can't.

1. Doyle Brunson
2. Matt Maroon
3. Byron Jacobs
4. Erick Lindgren
5. Blair and Rodman

And a bit over the top

6. Matt Lessinger

are names that come to mind without much effort

The most shocking example I remember one of his magazine articles (can't remember which magazine) he recommended folding AKs in the big blind to a TAGs UTG raise. On the other hand, this was several years ago, and lots of writers were weak-tight back then.

Playing with (poorly) controlled aggression is more satisfying. But I'll prolly buy that book anyway a bit later. My reading schedule is full currently.

Hi cpk:

I remember that example too. Slotboom clearly had very little understanding at that time as to how limit hold 'em should be played. But that was a few years ago so maybe he has gotten better. However, I don't remember ever seeing him correct this error.

Best wishes,
Mason

Here is the article published in the June 18, 2004 edition of CardPlayer magazine. It's actually kind of impressive the number of different ways he has of saying "If your opponent has a range of {AA,KK} or {AA}, then you should fold your AKs in the small blind."

*EDIT: He revisits the question in a follow-up article as well.
