Default 2001FP with coupon vs. Ebay?

I'm thinking about buying a 2001FP (overlap is killing me).

I know Dell offers occasional coupons for these. Is it worth waiting for one, or is it better to just buy one off ebay? Looks like one off ebay will cost around $375+$50 shipping, so about $200 cheaper than through Dells site (~$550+shipping).

Also, if anyone has an extra 2001FP to sell, LMK.

Look at it like this...

People are making a profit off those ebay monitors!

That said, probably depends on how badly you want it (how much is your time worth?)

$425 is a great price on ebay, I've bought and sold these a little bit on ebay. Usually in order to get a 2001fp monitor for less than $425 it seems to take about 2-3 months to wait for the deals. I'd just ebay it. Standard price was more like $500 w/ shipping on ebay last time I checked.

I'm looking for a seller with at least 200 feedback, probably more.

Also, what is a refurbished unit? How is is inferior to a normal one?

Dell is making more of a profit. Also, some of them are people selling their used ones (which I am fine with) because they are getting a bigger monitor.

Refurbished means that someone bought it and it didnt work so they returned and got another one. The returned one os repaired as sold cheaper as "refurbished." You probably dont want one of these since I think theres a better chance itll screw up than if you just buy a new one. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I used to sell tons (literally) of refurbished computer equipment at auction for several manufacturers, including Dell. The vast majority of it was brand new. It had been sold to some donk who couldn't make it work, or didn't like the color, or it had some slight blemish, so they took it back. They cannot then legally sell it as new, so they sell it as refurbished. I doubt they actually do any refurbishing unless there really was something wrong with it. People went nuts over the big Sony monitors, especially if they could find a ding on the plastic, which meant it was probably perfect inside, just blemished.

I'll take a monitor with a small ding for $200 cheaper....

Thanks for the info guys. It looks like ebay is the way to go for me.
