Listening to music is so much more +EV than watching TV when playing poker online. I can't believe I didn't figure this out earlier. About the only exception is baseball, which is slow paced and quiet enough that it doesn't really distract me.
Has anyone experimented with different types of music when they play? Right now, I'm pretty loyal to the iPod shuffle, since there are so many different types of music on there that I think it keeps my brain fresh. |

I usually turn my TV to a music channel when I'm playing. And this week, since I jacked up my laptop's power supply, that TV has been my Media Center PC. I'm multi-media-ing!

[ QUOTE ]
Nate, classical. [/ QUOTE ] That's what I figured people would say. I have a little bit of Philip Glass in my mix but not too much classical otherwise. I actually think some of the better done ambient/intelligence dance music/minimalist house stuff belongs in this category, since it can share a lot compositionally with classical. Plus it (usually) has a beat, which can be helpful. If I feel like I'm not conentrating particularly well, I'll sometimes wait for a particular measure to finish before making a hand decision. |

I highly recommend steve reich's "drumming" especially the first two movements, and terry riley's "in c" for minimalist stuff. I have listened to both of these whilst pokering recently.
