Are full games dead in low limits?
Ever since Party introduced 2/4 6 max, I've noticed a tightening up of full tables. I prefer short handed, except that the tables seem to break up more frequently.
This weekend I was helping a friend with his game on the 0.50/1 Party limit full tables. I noticed a few players from the 2/4 & 3/6 tables that I thought had moved up, but apparently had moved down. And these 0.50/1 tables were tight - they were exactly like 2/4 tables two months ago. If it takes a while to find a good 0.50/1 full table, then these games must be dead. I then looked through several full tables at the 1/2 and 2/4 level and was hard pressed to find one with more than 4 players seeing the flop. I told my friend it's short-handed or nothing. But to B&M players, short handed is foreign territory. Correct me if I'm wrong, but were full tables invented by casinos to seat more players? Will new players come in never having played at full tables? And what about all the poker literature? Sklansky & Miller & just about everyone else deals with full games - there are no short handed books. |

Re: Are full games dead in low limits?
For one thing, the texture of a table changes constantly. I have yet to find a table that was tight that stayed tight. People get bored and loosen up, new players enter, and what was once a tight table is not any longer. I will say that 2/4 full games on stars are fairly tight during the day, the same for Absolute poker. But there is always at least several donkeys at the table. And I find tight games to be very profitable, because you know what other people are playing, and it is easy to know when to shut down. A lot of these tight players also play very badly, even though they probably don't realize it. They rarely get full value out of their hands, and you can get lots of free cards off them. These guys miss a lot of bets by trying to play tricky. Party is still a fish tank. Full or short handed. At least it was a month ago when I was playing there.

Re: Are full games dead in low limits?
I don't think they are dead, but they are getting crippled. I think $3/6 and up has been dead for a while. It was bad, then Party added 6 max to the $3/6 level, and it go worse.
You can still find some good games. Just not as easily. I found a $5/10 full game the other day with a 50+% VPIP. |

[/ QUOTE ] B+M players know how to play short handed if they play non peak hours. Casinos use full tables because they don't break down as often. |
