Folding out better players.
UTG+1 26/14/6.5 over 180 hands
BB is just a horrible player 70/2/0.3 over 200 hands Absolute Poker Limit Holdem Ring game Limit: $1/$2 6 players Converter Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is CO with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG folds, UTG+1 raises, Hero 3-bets, 2 folds, BB calls, UTG+1 calls. Flop: 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (9.5SB, 3 players) BB checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero bets, BB calls, UTG+1 folds. Turn: 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5.75BB, 2 players) BB checks, Hero checks. River: 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5.75BB, 2 players) BB checks, Hero checks. Results: Final pot: 5.75BB On the flop I thought that they most likely didnt hit anything and that a bet might fold both or only fold UTG+1 leaving me heads up with the BB. I thought that I would have a bigger chance to win against him in general because his calling hand range on the flop is much broader than UTG's. I would also get paid of more often by the BB then the UTG player. Is that valid resoning in this situation or should I be thinking about more/other things? Comments on all streets are appreciated. |

Re: Folding out better players.
I probably bet again on the turn, with the plan of checking behind on the river UI.
Preflop, I think I fold. Is 3-betting an MP raise from a TAG standard in a 6-max game with A9s? (Some of my preflop standards in 6-max are still a little sketchy.) |

Re: Folding out better players.
Im not really confident at all when it comes to preflop strategy, so you might be right.

Re: Folding out better players.
I fold preflop.
I fire again at the turn, betting for value against hearts or spades or overcards. It also buys us a free showdown, but we don't really need it against this opponent. (i.e. we can fold if he bets) |

Re: Folding out better players.
His range has you in trouble preflop. However, usually you get to go against an uber fish with a weaker hand as well-a player with those stats will almost never fold while in the big blind, so it is not too bad. Bet the turn-value bet your marginal hands relentlessly against players this loose/passive.

bet the turn. preflop is thin but fine if MP thinks you are tight.
