Default My 1st Live Session

5 Hours
+ $103
1/2 NLHE

I was surprised at how loose the guys played. Frequently people were taking top pair and playing for their whole stack even guys with $300 plus. Is it always like this? The standard preflop raise guys were using was $15 in a 1/2 game?

Congrats! The first time I played in a B&M I had the same question about the $1/$2 pf raises. Here is a link to the thread I started there. Some good responses..... Thread

I've been back a few times and thankfully been seated at very different tables than those loose tables I described in that post. Two of the tables were still loose in the fact that alot of people would see the flop but they usually limped. So $2 would let you see the flop alot of the time. A standard raise there would be $5-7 with $10-$15 only rarely. It was alot of fun playing at those tables for sure.

The normal limits spread live for NL are...

1/2 or 1/3
2/5 or 3/5
5/10 or 5/5
10/20 or 10/25

So if you are a winning player at 2/4 and 3/6 you should be looking at 2/5 to 5/10 games or bigger if you have the roll.

tommo, try Ameristar St Charles or Harrahs St Louis. They're both just off I-70 about 10 minutes past the airport. Ameristar just added 5 more tables and Harrah's is opening a new poker room in April to replace their current room. Gotta be 21 though. Good luck, maybe I'll see you there although I currently only play 3/6 or 6/12 Limit.
