Game Report: $4 - $40 Spread Limit
For the past month or two, Casino del Sol in Tucson has had a regular $4 - $40 spread limit game that is fantastic! $2 and $4 blinds, bet and 3 raise cap, and a $200 minimum buy-in. It plays as loose as a $3/$6 game, but has the element of being able to somewhat cut down on opponents' drawing odds. The gamblers and fish love it because, with a relatively low buy-in, they can pick up a $1000 pot (which come about a couple times a night). I love it because, even though I've always been a strictly low stakes limit player, I get more of a chance to outplay opponents.
Arizona has a capped poker betting limit of $150 (so no no-limit) and this game seems to generate more action than any of the $5 - $150 spread limits games I've seen that try to fill the no limit niche. Anyone play this game or something like it? |

Re: Game Report: $4 - $40 Spread Limit
I think they are great games. I play the 5-150 at CA a lot, and it's great. Only a hand full of players to worry about. I just wish they would lift the capped buy-in.
I think if you played the 5-150 at CA would see a lot more action than you have been seeing down South. >$1000 pots happen all the time in that game, not just a couple a night. |

Re: Game Report: $4 - $40 Spread Limit
Nearly my whole role is online, so I like the $200 buy-in at the $4-$40. A few more weeks of this though, and I'll have to come pay you a visit What's CA's max buy-in?

Re: Game Report: $4 - $40 Spread Limit
Yep a stinking little old $350 with a $100 min. Barely more than two big bets! I think they should make it a no cap game. A few nits would get pissed, but I don't make my money off the nits in that game.
The only saving grace is that sometimes on the swing or grave shifts you will get a "cool" dealer that will let the drunk rich guy sit with a $1000. |

Re: Game Report: $4 - $40 Spread Limit
Hmmmm...very interesting. I usually play at the Desert Diamond and I haven't seen a spread limit game there in around a year or so. I might have to drive out to Casino Del Sol next time I play live to check out the action.

Are you [censored] serious? $350? What a total and complete joke. I would think there shouldn't even be a cap in a game like this. Sounds awful to me till it gets deeper.

Re: Game Report: $4 - $40 Spread Limit
$350 max sucks. We have no cap on our little game and one guy last night bought in for $1000...twice. The game was phenominal and included a $1300 pot (mind you, $40 at a time) with the winner showing down ATo for a pair a tens. Unfortunately I couldn't catch many winning hands and ended up donating a few racks to the local super-LAG who racked out over $3K.

Re: Game Report: $4 - $40 Spread Limit
As perc can attest the 5-150 game is a great game...its a constant aquarium of fish, of all shapes and sizes. Yes the 350 max does suck...after a few pots it dosn't take long to get up to 600-800 and play the way you really want to play. You will not find me playing another game in CA. Like Perc I play the game alot, 3-5 times a week and usually all weekend.

Dont be fooled into playing that super LAG style. Last weekend a super LAG cashed out about $4800 from our 5-150 game, only problem, he was still stuck for the week.
