check river -double paired board and call a reasonable bet.

Assuming stats are over decentish sample his increasing river aggression I c/call river here -as played you got to fold now and not get to see showdown - I dont think its a bluff of missed fdraw he prob .has an 8.

Hmm... You need to win 23% of the time you make this call on the river for it to be profitable.

Villain's stats are tight so I think he's less like to call preflop with a 7 or 8, and a worse overpair is a big enough part of his range to make this a call.

Edit: Just saw the above post and remembered that I was going to say that I would bet this river for value against this villain and check/call against a more aggressive opponent to catch a bluff.

I don't think the river bet is any good. There are few hands that you beat that you're getting value from (lower pocket pairs?).

There is no way I'm c/f the river against this villain. You guys can't be serious? b/c the river and feel good about it.

To the c/f crowd - what 7's and 8's are in villain's range? 77,88,7c8c and that's it. (EDIT: villain could also have 22). His river AF definitely indicates he can bluff here, especially since our river bet looks so weak. This is a busted draw or air a ton.

Actually, the more I think about it c/c is probably better on the river since he's likely to bluff.
