1/2 Live deep stacked, good semi bluff or spew?
At the homegame which I play at after the game had started to die down we play dealer's choice. The current game was omaha high. All the dead money is already gone, so the remaining 4 players are pretty solid and we are all pretty deep stacked. The SB in this case has about 400 and I have 700.
Preflop: You are dealt A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG folds, I pot, SB calls, BB folds. Flop: 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] SB checks, I pot, He repots, I repot. Good semi bluff or should I just muck the c/rai? Pretty new to this game, so any help is welcome. |

Re: 1/2 Live deep stacked, good semi bluff or spew?
seems fair enough,
with top set you are OK even if he does have a flush. we need to know the potsize and betsizes on the flop to analyse it properly, But it is cute and aggressive so I like it. |

Re: 1/2 Live deep stacked, good semi bluff or spew?
Thanks for the response. I believe preflop the bet would be 7 and he called, making the pot 16 on the turn.
He checked, I bet 16, he raises 64, I reraise to to 256? I think thats how it would go, like I said I'm new to the game and pot-limit in general, so not sure if that is right. |

This question is unanswerable.

What other info do you need to know? Everyone left in the game is very TAG, although our starting requirements do loosen up given that it is only 4 handed. Not sure if I can give much better reads than that.

If he believes you would play the nut flush this way, it's perfect. If he has 56hh and wants to gamble, so be it.

Re: 1/2 Live deep stacked, good semi bluff or spew?
this is pretty much the easiest semi-bluff ever (if you don't count hands where you have equity to race for all your chips but would prefer your opponent folds).

Re: 1/2 Live deep stacked, good semi bluff or spew?
The other information I need is something like...this type of player doesn't fold the second nuts/or he is very prone to folding here. Stating that they are "solid tags" does nothing to clarify the situation for someone trying to answer your question in a bubble. I think the play is fine in a vacuum against your "solid tag". But notice here the problem. Does that mean him being solid include reading you well, or possessing a complex understanding of the game, or does it mean he plays straightforward and your 4 bet means he is going to fold? This is something ONLY YOU AND THE OTHER PLAYERS IN THE GAME CAN ANSWER. Hence your question is unaswerable IMO.

Re: 1/2 Live deep stacked, good semi bluff or spew?
Hitting top set on suited flop is always an interesting hand because it often produces big pots.
The fact that it`s live and that you have the Ace of hearts makes it even more interesting. I agree that in this spot only a good read will lead you to the best decision. For starters, it`s very important to know on which level of thinking your opponent operates followed by the usual analysis and recalling of his patterns and tendencies spiced with some body-language reads etc etc.. So I`m not gonna comment on this specific hand but I can tell you what I would do in a very specific situation like: If I don`t have anything on him but I suspect that I`ll be playing against him many times in the future I will probably try to keep the pot small and get it to showdown so I can make a mental note on his hand and his Pf/flop play. |

I would tend to fire all [censored] cannons at this board with your hand.
