A6s 4-handed, 10x BB, 1st to act, 1/3 the stack of 3rd place...push?
Well, all the relevant info is in the title. I guess I should add that the two biggest stacks seem pretty loose, I can see them calling with any Ax better than mine and any PP. But they could also conceivably call with worse Ax and maybe a few K highs as well. The 3rd place person seems reasonable and would likely fold a few of the better Ax and probably some of the low PP. Is A6s good enough to push with 3 to act? Here's the HH for the specific info...
Full Tilt Poker Game #4016051690: $2 + $0.25 Sit & Go (30525363), Table 1 - 60/120 - No Limit Hold'em - 17:23:51 ET - 2007/10/30 Seat 3: Trife Da God (5,320) Seat 7: ThePhoenix78 (1,190) Seat 8: brianhpt (3,050) Seat 9: PThLam (3,940) PThLam posts the small blind of 60 Trife Da God posts the big blind of 120 The button is in seat #8 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to ThePhoenix78 [Ad 6d] ThePhoenix78 ??? Two more general questions that this scenario raises... 1) How are pushing requirements influenced by the total number of people at the table, holding position constant? Like if I have 10x the BB in the cutoff at a full table and get dealt A6s, would you push then? Here, because it's the bubble and I need just one person to bust to make the money, I am guessing my requirements should be tighter. But... 2) The fact that we are on the bubble, means the blinds come around faster. So although 10x the BB is just at the cusp of being short stacked (and some people would say shortstacked doesn't really apply until you're 7-8x the BB), the fact that I'm posting blinds 50% of the time probably means I need to loosen pushing requirements a bit. 3)Also, how does the 3rd place person's stack influence my requirements? If he was closer, I am guessing I should be a bit tighter...but given that he has 3x my stack, I might need to gamble. How do you balance these two considerations in determining pushing requirements? |

Well, posts get bumped here pretty quickly, so thought I'd just make sure mine didn't get quickly relegated to page 2 and beyond

WTF? Dale already told you everything you need to know - fold and get SNGPT/SNGWiz.

UTG here I push its not like anyone else is going out and the blinds are hitting you next hand (its about optimal according to john nash). Both reasons you stated for pushing were good. I dont think diminishing fold equity is much of a consideration unless you're at around 8-9 bbs though.
