I felt disgusted after this fold so will some one please comment if I was right or not.

Something at the time must have made you think he had a 7. Sounds like a situation where you had to be there to have a proper read. I virtually never lay down AA in the 22's and although that might be a leak, it can't be a very big one.

I initially thought this was kind of a tough choice, until you realize you will be calling 800 (the rest of your stack) to win about 2300. At 3 to 1 odds it is tough to lay this down at the 22s. Even though there is a good chance he's got a 7, there is also enough of a chance at the $22s that he has a hand you beat (straight/flush draw, high pocket pair, a ten) to make calling the right choice IMO.

Was there a better line to avoid this spot? How about check calling the turn and river to a small bet, but folding to a large one? I don't know that I am advocating this line since the turn is kind of draw heavy, but with this line you may extract more value from a hand you beat and loose less money to a hand that beats you.
