Nothing wrong with the way you played this hand.
Good value bets on every street. |

looks good. this hand only gets interesting if you get bet into or raised on big streets and will thus be forced to decide if ur TPTK is worth a call on the river.

Ok thanks guys.
Just wondering, why are they good value bets though? Or where/in what book can I find out why they are good value bets? |

The way I would think of a value bet is that you're betting based on the proposition that your hand is likely to be best. Even if it's not a sure thing to win out, you are likely to prevail so frequently that betting wins you money over the long haul. An example would be betting a four flush in a multiway pot. If there are five players in the hand, you'll come out on top more often than one fifth of the time. This way, each bet you make is a good return on investment, so to speak.
I'm not sure if this is right, so I'd appreciate feedback, but I also think of this as linked to the concept of pot equity. When you have top pair or a powerful draw, your pot equity is high, I guess another way of describing your theoretical "share" of the pot. In this hand, when you raise the flop with top pair and a four flush, you stand to win the pot more than one times out of three. It's likely that you have the best hand already, and if you don't, you have all of the flush outs to what is almost certainly the winning hand. If my explanation is confusing, misleading, or just plain wrong, could someone please set me straight? |
