because pokerstars likes to have the best players in the world. and since it's the world championship of poker, the people who finish at the top are obviously the best players in the world (LDO) so it's only natural

signing Ray Rahme did make me laugh, he hardly typifies online poker.

I LOL at some of their names but the strategy is clear, they are targeting every countries with potentiality.

I even wrote an email to them that as an Italian I don't see myself looking like Dario Minieri but they have a point, they guy went deep in the WSOP, he has been chip leader for while and in the end the average fish just look at this, they are not digging deep into his results or anything.

Rahme represented well his country, he mentioned it few times during the interviews and this was very smart.

Unfortunately you don't get recognized by the mass only for winning a lot online, Annette was nowhere near as famous as she is right now even though she won almost as much online as live.

I see poker growing in Italy and TV is THE MEAN, all the other news are for aficionados like us.

So I am afraid we need to luckbox a FT at the WSOP to get a contract, no matter how donk or good we are.

Dario is the only one of the 4 who didn't automatically get a spot on team PS because of his finish. The bonuses that Stars offers for FTing are the pay for being on team PS for 1 year. It's not like stars went and recruited Raymond, Tuan, or Hevad...

I agree with what you said but Africa (as stated previously) I don't think is on the verge of a poker boom

I don't get Tuan Lam either, no one signed Danneman because he came second. And Lam has the personality of a pencil so I wonder what their reason was.

As usual I expect only an insular American to presume that South Africa is just like Ethiopia in terms of wealth and technology.

Get some geography lessons you idiot. Poker could be huge in South Africa, there is nothing stopping it....

South Africa has very little to do with most of the african countries, there are actually many rich areas like the whole south and several areas of Johannesburg.

Besides, as someone specified before I think if you play as a PS player the ME and you reach the FT you get a contract by default.

What I do not understand is why they do not make a stronger effort in targetting asian countries like Japan (China is a world apart), Indonesia, Malaysia or even India...
