Default Semi-bluff/free-showdown raise

Here is CO with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

UTG limps, CO limps, Hero raises, button folds, SB calls, BB folds, limpers call.

Limpers are loose passive, but SB is aggressive and thinking.

Flop is T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (9 SB)

UTG checks, CO limps, Hero bets , SB raises , UTG folds, CO folds

Thoughts on Hero's bet?

Turn is 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (6.5BB)

SB bets , Hero raises ?

he should actually have a lot of pocket pairs less than nines that might fold to your raise on occasion. either way your monster equity combined with getting a better hand to fold some of the time, and having the best hand some of the time make this a good spot for popping the turn.

Villain isnt folding a better hand and you cant fold to a 3 bet. This raise is purely for value, but I dont think you have enough. Id rather just call and call a safe river.

Here's the thing. There aren't many safe rivers, but there are a lot of draws. He might also fold a pair below 9s.

PF I think his range is very wide given the two LP guys. Since he didn't 3-bet I doubt he holds a pair >99 (and probably not 9's either). His range on the turn are lots of draws and low PP's and split pairs like 98. Given that the board paired low he is very unlikely to have a 3-betting hand (that's the point I'm trying to make by this long intro ).

So Raising is good if he can fold low PP's and/or wil not always bet his busted dras on the river.

In summary sushi says nh m8!

He won't fold a pair often at all imo. Just call turn and call a non-straight, non spade river

Oh yeah, you might end up putting in 3 bets on the turn drawing dead. Why take that risk?

Its perfectly ok to not show this hand down either. Your hand basically sucks unimproved. SB has played his hand like one that needs protection and HE won't go away to a turn raise until the board gets too ugly for HIM.

You have a point this is not the usual way to play a draw with two LP players behind. And I also start to have doubt about how often he folds a pair here. Hero may have many hands to semi-bluff with.

In summar, don't raise.

Hey I know this hand. This is a Roy Cooke hand. http://www.cardplayer.com/author/article/all/19/8360

I actually didnt like the way he played this hand. I think checking this specific flop 4 handed is better than betting and I dont think this type of player is gonna fold a better hand to his turn raise.

I love Roy Cooke, but I dont like the way he played this hand.
