Reraising with Pairs Against Strong Player
Villian is tag who is 2 off the button and he open raises. You know he typically open raises here 25% of the time. What is your minimum reraising pair when in the cutoff?

If I want to go much lower than 55 or 66 I need tight players behind me and an ok image

Re: Reraising with Pairs Against Strong Player
I'm not sure if you can describe 25% HJ open-raiser as a TAG. I agree with the above post.

if u have a pfr like 25 after 100 hands and the HJ raiser is good/or the blinds bad 55/66 shouldt be very close. 77 however i would 3 bet all the time |

The problem I have with 55 or 66 is that it is going to be difficult to play post flop and a strong player is more likely to play back at you making your decisions very difficult. If there are too aggressive the play is fairly easy. If they are passive the play is fairly easy. But, when they are right is the sweet spot of aggressiveness it sucks as they are playing close to game theory optimal and you are going to extract the minimum if there is any value to extract in the first place. My gut reaction is to pick better spots. But, then I worry that I am giving away value. Hence, the post |

Re: Reraising with Pairs Against Strong Player
No one in small stakes is playing close to optimal. A few might be at nosebleeds.
3-bet TAGs and LAGTAGs loose because they hate getting 3-bet OOP. 3-bet them because even the best tend to play rather honest in a 3-bet pot OOP. 3-bet them loose because they will respond by giving you more action which is sweet when you flop sets or have AA. 3-bet them loose when you can create dead money from the blinds 3-bet them even more loose when they are nitty postflop |

My only option would be to 3-bet or fold. If you are saying 3-bet instead of fold here, your arguments hold true for any 2 cards. Why not 3-bet then with j,8o? At some point your cards are not good enough. |

Re: Reraising with Pairs Against Strong Player
we were talking about 55 and 66 right?
Not J8o Besides, I will fairly often 3-bet JTo so J8o cant be that horrible... I need to add "3-bet more in position" to my list of one-liners. Move up faster Stop folding 3-bet more |

Re: Reraising with Pairs Against Strong Player
I doubt it and I would rarely 3-bet JTo vs a HJ open. Only if HJ is a huge LAG fish with a pretty wide range and if there is no good players behind me who knows what I know.
But against a wide CO range you can easily 3-bet JTo OTB |
