A3s opening all-in in LP
FTP, $24+2, $24K guaranteed.
Blinds are 80/160, average table stacks are about 2-3 thousands (two people with 5-6K), and table is playing really tight. I have 2,100 and it is folded to me in LP with A3s and I open shove. Standard? If not, what is maximum amount of chips you would open shove here? Results are below: SB tanks, but finally calls with KK, which hold up. |

It isn't standard .
You're not that desperate where you have to make a move . Just make a standard raise and play accordingly . |

Re: A3s opening all-in in LP
Hold on, hold on tigers. His M was 5.8 which is a perfect open shove with a3s lp M 6 w/first in vigor. If someone calls his shove with an A he isnt that bad of a dog up against any other ace, non pair and he is suited if a flush peels. Forces the blinds and any limper's into a tough decision for most likly a big portion of their stack with out a premium hand. (sometimes they will wake up.
) This isn't a "bad" shove at all, in fact I really like it. Aggressive, yes. Whoever said "standard raise" is joking right? |

what is maximum amount of chips you would open shove here? [/ QUOTE ] Probably around an 8M max. M = ((Stack amount) / (the initial pot amount with blinds and antes)) Dan Harringtons series covers the zones which in this spot he was orange, border of red. Open shove, first in, any Axs most pairs, broadway cards, SCs... |

[/ QUOTE ] If the players are tight to OP's left, I would raise to 2.5bbs because they'll fold to that just as much as they would fold to an all in. If you're called you're certainly beat and you can shove at the next opportunity. |

If your 2.5x raise get re raised you fold (horrible if u do) with over a quarter your chips in the middle? If you call you should have shoved gaining an extra way to win. |
