UseMyBank blocked by Canadian banks

Just received this email:

UseMyBank has been helping Canadians to make online banking payments
to merchants since 2002 with our main processor GPAY/NPAY.

As our customers, you have made it very clear that you enjoy the
service that we provide, and are very comfortable with the company and
the technology behind UseMyBank.

Unfortunately, the major Canadian Financial Institutions seem to feel
otherwise, and have now forced GPAY/NPAY to cease processing payments
for UseMyBank and it's customers.

This means that YOUR bank is blocking your ability to make payments
with our service. Your Bank has decided to make the decision on your
behalf as to how you spend your money and what service you choose to
use.

As a reminder, UseMyBank Services Inc. does not accept any manual
payments. Payments can only be made through a Merchants website.

Not happy about this. Further research is required to find out which banks will still allow UMB to process payments from bank accounts.

It is temporary. The only banks that don't work as far as I know are BMO, TD Canada Trust and the French bank that starts with a D.

Once they upgrade all banks will work again.

I don't work for them and so I don't know the technical details other then it has something to do with security and authentication between the banks and UseMyBank. Apparently this was planned and already in the works but then these 3 banks moved up the time-frame so now UseMyBank is playing catch up.

Dammit! I just got this email. Are you sure henry about this upgrade thing and this is only temporary ? They did not mention any of that in the email, it made it sound like they are banning usemybank and we can't use it again.

On Saturday I tried to make a purchase. At that time there was a warning from UseMyBank that BMO, TD Canada Trust, and Desjardins could not be processed but that the other banks could so long as a form with some basic personal information was filled out.

It claimed this was required to meet some banking requirement and that it required that UseMyBank upgrade. That they had planned to do this anyway and that they would be providing service after they completed the upgrade.

When I tried to buy in now so I could cut and paste the text I find Stars has suspended the service.
