Wondering about UTG pushing ranges
What hands should I be looking to push late in tournaments UTG? I mean, if the blind is gonna hit your stack hard, is it right to get it in with a less than standard hand? I've seen people pushing here often with hands like K5s or 33 etc.

Re: Wondering about UTG pushing ranges
Searching for "Pushbot Charts" might help you.
The charts aren't perfect though. They don't take into account, for example, that calling ranges widen as your stack gets shorter (at an extreme, the BB's calling range is 100% if you push less than 1BB). The UTG section also doesn't take into account that at 1 or 2 BB, it's usually going to be correct to push any two from UTG. With a stack that has some FE though, they're pretty useful. |

Re: Wondering about UTG pushing ranges
I just would like to know the thinking behind it. Obviously if you get in before the blind, you are going to have the small blind, big blind, and antes in your pot, whereas if you are in the big blind, only the small blind and antes are in the pot. Also, you will have to call someone elses action in the big blind, while utg you are in first with some fold equity.
I really don't know what I just said, someone clarify! |

Re: Wondering about UTG pushing ranges
I think most of it is that, you have a lot of FE because your UTG and an open push from UTG shows a lot of strength. Also if your M is real low, and when the blinds hit your M will be even lower whereas you have less FE after the blinds hit you than you do before, and your M is going to be a lot less, which means you have to widen your range or you will basically be blinded out
