Re: nl 25 isolation play, good play?
Interesting line, but not my style of play. It's a good plan to try to isolate the bad player but I'd def prefer doing this with a real hand, like 99+, KQ+, maybe stuff like AJ. Hands that don't need much improvement on the flop or can even win without improvement.
A8s is for me a hand to either steal the blinds with in LP or try to flop big in a big pot like medium pair NFD stuff. Even though he might be quite a maniac, how do you continue after the iso play PF? For example, firing on a flop that you missed completely but that easily could ve helped him is spew IMO, cause most of the times he is not going to fold when he catched some part of it anyway... |

Re: nl 25 isolation play, good play?
If villain is so horrible, let this hand go and you will find better spot to stack him.
So I would fold preflop. Dont 3bet, just fold to raise. As played I would check behind the flop. I think its common mistake. If there is tilted/loose donk at table who giving free money, then all other players loosening up to get his money. They think "ooo my suited aces are good". But actually these aces dont be so good! Just fold these suited aces and wait better spot. Patience and dicipline is the key to stack donks and tilted players. |

i hate your reminraise preflop. I can understand the first rr to isolate, but what are you trying to achieve here?

Re: nl 25 isolation play, good play?
I wanted to get the BB out before the flop becuase my hand is definitley beat by BB's range. I had already re-raised maniac's big raises a couple times and he just called preflop those times too. So i wasnt really scared of him waking up with a big hand here.
This is another hand where i did the same thing, this happened before the previous posted hand. The preflop huge raise seems silly but the maniac was calling almost any preflop raise and i wanted other guy out. Was this a bad spot?
