200NL middle pair reraised pot strange line by both villain and me
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $2 BB (2 handed)Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)
Hero ($200) Button ($120) Preflop: Hero is BB with T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Button raises to $10, Hero raises to $38, Button calls $28. Flop: ($76) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, Button bets $12, Hero raises to $162, This is the first hand with this villain. Not really sure why I did this. Pretty weird line. His small bet seems like he has worse hand than mine and it was a donkish enough bet that I thought he might call me with it. |

I don't like this 3bet, this is your 1st hand vs 60bb deep unknown, with marginal hand oop.

you don't really want him to shove pre do you?
- i don't vote for a 3bet here with no history, he did open for 5X afterall. |

Re: 200NL middle pair reraised pot strange line by both villain and me
Do you know if you are calling a shove preflop? Stack sizes pretty much suck to 3-bet this hand against an unknown IMO, I just take a flop.
As played, as soon as you flop second pair, with that much in the pot already, the money's going in as far as I'm concerned. So for me the check raise has nothing to do with the small flop bet giving you information, it's just the most rational way to get your chips into the pot after you flop second pair in a re-raised pot against a shortstack. |

Without a read it is so hard to tell. Some players will snapcall with 55 if you push, some might fold JJ or even a Q. I dunno. Without a read I think it is suicide to raise preflop, unless you are bluffing

Why all of you advice not to reraise preflop? This is my default play. Is it so wrong?

You guys are probably right. I suck preflop. I will create another thread in the future about preflop play. I suck so bad preflop.
I was more interested in my flop play, if I am prepared to play for all of his stack here now I reraised him preflop. |
