20NL: TPNK vs. UTG poster oop in a bloated pot on the river
Soo.. I think this hand is more interesting. Villain posted UTG, so he just joined the table and is probably new to the game and doesn't know much about it. I try to pick up the dead money preflop. The flop bet goes without saying, imo. On the turn, I was thinking: semi-bluff.
The river is the sweet spot in this hand. What do I do? c/c, c/f, crai, b/f, b/c? If you bet, how much? If you call, how much? Putting in a blocking bet is the safest way to play it, check call will induce a bluff from the hand he most likely has, some sort of draw.

Re: 20NL: TPNK vs. UTG poster oop in a bloated pot on the river
Villain has $13.60 left by my reckoning.
So if you bet fold, you are going to have to bet something like $4 into the $12.60 pot which seems a bit gross. I'd check... and then I'd have to fold to any strong bet I suppose. Sometimes he will bet something like $4 himself though, which I think you can profitably call. A lot of the time he will check behind with a worse made hand or a missed draw. You said you were thinking 'semi-bluff' on the turn... did you think you were likely to be behind? That might make your river decision easier. |

I just pot pot pot against this type pf players with TP. They are totally clueless and will call you down with 23 cos they put you on AK and themselves on AA sooted.
iPoker network? Primetime? You have the nuts, unless he spiked his 72 or somthing. |

Re: 20NL: TPNK vs. UTG poster oop in a bloated pot on the river
Ok, here are final results and reasoning for my play in exactly the opposite order.
Since villain posted out of turn, I assumed he wasn't a good player. So in the general light of the play at iPoker (which messes greatly with my hand reading, btw), I thought I had a great chance to be good here. I obviously hated my kicker, but I felt like I couldn't let this go to a strong bluff from a busted flush draw and I hoped that by betting JT or even QJ MIGHT let their hands go. Unlikely, but possible. After all, UTG bought in for a full stack and that was giving me some trouble about how weak he actually was playing. So I bet $7 and he called with ATo and MHIG. But I wasn't sure if it was a good idea to play such a huge pot against an unknown. |
