Top 2 pairs on 9TJ
Vilain is a tag 24/15/4 on 50 hands. Is this spew or is it simply a cooler?

Re: Top 2 pairs on 9TJ
hero is rarely calling with less than JT IMO.
Sometimes your up vs draw+pair, but usually he has strait, top2, or set. is calling an option? I prolly reluctantly call, but IMO thats a spew as well. best play is prolly b/f. |

Re: Top 2 pairs on 9TJ
If there weren't a million horrible turn cards I would like a flop call but you can't really do that on this board. This is just a really bad spot imo

Re: Top 2 pairs on 9TJ
BB range might be TJ, JQ KQ, 78, 89 and then possibly AJ, KJ
I don't really mind the play but I think you are committing your stack in a marginal situation |

what do you suggest? b/f ? seems quite weak.

Re: Top 2 pairs on 9TJ
b/f sucks really hard IMO.
I probably just call the raise and reevaluate turn. I think by moving in here we're basically turning our hand into a bluff as I think there are very few hands that can call here that we're ahead of, AA, KK, QQ, pretty unlikely due to preflop, so really only worse 2 pairs and maybe qj can call, and I dont think they make up a big enough part of his range to make this +ev |

That doesn't mean we are turning our hand into a bluff

Re: Top 2 pairs on 9TJ
His calling range pretty much has you crushed: I think it's mostly spew. The only hands you beat that can call are QJ, maybe QQ or KK (but those are probably 3-bet PF). You're also making it really easy for him to get away from a worse two pair.
Folding feels really weak. Calling and reevaluating turn in position is probably the best option. |

Re: Top 2 pairs on 9TJ
If we're folding out all (nearly) all worse hands and only getting called by better hands it seems like turning your hand into a bluff to me.
If there was a flush draw on the flop Id agree with you but I think if were ahead just now, Im only really worried about a q,k or 8 on the turn |

Re: Top 2 pairs on 9TJ
I think flop shove is pretty horrible unless villain is even more horrible (e.g. would call shove with AA/KK/AJ etc.)
I would just flat call the flop, and re-eval on turn. |
