Re: i every time go broke on this..
This is my first response, but I think once you got that significant reraise back at you, you had to drop you overpair, barring some read. The guy was looking for implied odds on his set, and you paying him off made him right. It's not crazy for him to be holding a suited 78 either.

Re: i every time go broke on this..
IMHO your flop raise serves two purposes. It's a value raise first and foremost and secondly an informational raise. When he re-raises I think you get your info. A donkbet, 3-bet like this is usually stronger than your AA so without a specific read I'd lean towards a fold.
I'd possibly of taken the line of calling the flop and re-evaluating the turn action. This way I allow him to bluff and potentially value bet 99-JJ for me. You'll still be able to get value if he slows down and crucially you keep the pot more manageable with this line. |

Re: i every time go broke on this..
it depends on villain, does he lead out sets ??
I dont like folding AA for 100 bb though. I just call flop, call turn fold river usually |

thread included someone talking about raising for info. [/ QUOTE ] Is that a dig?? I made it very clear that information is the secondary function of the bet. It's primarily a value raise but in making it we get much stronger definition on villains hand. That's a secondary bonus function of such a play |

Re: i every time go broke on this..
we only get important information if villian 4bets.
If he calls we only eliminate air from his range. He could be calling w/ set, 2p, TPTK or a draw. But if we get the reraise we can fold. (assuming villian won't push w/ any pair) Anyway, the raise serves both at once: Information and protection/value. I don't see any spot where I bet or raise for information only. Information that I can use in the hand ... if I cbet I certanly get the information whether villian wants to play or not. This doesn't help me on turn and river, though. |
