Default closing accounts leads to unlimited spam?!

a couple of months ago I emailed some sites which i had some old accounts with, in order to close those accounts as I have not been using them for a few years now and I am being bombarded with spam from various poker/casino promoters since, that even use my first name when addresing my emails..sites include ladbrokes, paddypower, pacific and betfair..anybody had the same experience...i'd be interested to know which one leaked out my info..
