River: ($9.05) 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $4, BB raises to $5.6 (All-In), Hero calls $1.60.

Final Pot: $20.25

He obviously outplayed me with that check raise on the river. Was it standard play? I was 50/50 on checking the river(since he couldn't have been drawing to anything) or betting for value since I thought I might have the best hand. Ideas?

I instantly knew I was beat when he C/R AI.

check behind turn, no draws and hardly any hands that you get two streets of value from.

I believe it's under "essentials of uNL" that Pokey has a post detailing when you shoud / shouldn't bet the turn. One of his reasons is "to get the option of a free showdown." I think betting the turn is fine in this case since w/ that A hitting, betting your JJ is essentially a bluff. But following that reasoning, you should have checked behind on the river and seen that showdown for free.

looks like some FPS played set by villan. Check turn or river no need to bet both IMO.

I defiantely did not put him on an Ace, and I put him on a 9 until the river bet. I thought I might be able to get a call if he had a 9. His range wasn't too tight and he didn't reraise me so i didn't give him a very big pair.

I think I was the villain here -- I'm at work without HH, but it seems to match. I'd be curious to know if anyone thinks my play was horrid.

I typically check the turn here. I don't expect to get 3 streets of value out of a worse hand once the A comes
