How would you play this TPTK spot?
$1/$2 live game -- 9 handed
BTN (100) SB (200) HERO (300) No specific reads on BTN. SB is an old guy, very tight but aggressive, and straightforward. I have been by far the most aggressive at the table which has been playing tight. Preflop: MP limps, folds to BTN who raises to $8, SB raises to $22, Hero looks down at AsKs and calls $22, BTN folds. Flop ($52): Ad Qh Tc HERO ? What's the best line here? Some of Villains range I beat, other parts have me pretty crushed. Do I lead? How much? More importantly, if I lead, am I leading for value? Am I leading to see if I'm behind, prepared to fold if raised? If Villain calls, how do you play the turn? Should HERO c/c flop, c/f fold turn? c/c, c/c, c/f river? Who raises PF? What do you think? |

Umm, did SB check? If so, I definitely bet, basically to find out where you are but also for value. Also, I don't like 4-betting preflop. Sounds like villain is too tight to 4-bet for value here.

My apologies...I f***ed up the post...

OK...
1. HERO checks, BTN bets $65, HERO? 2. HERO checks, BTN bets $40, HERO? 3. HERO checks, BTN checks TURN: 8s HERO? |

Re: How would you play this TPTK spot?
Once you called the turn, you played turn & river good imho.
I'd prefer folding the flop. You beat exactly JJ/KK/(99/AJ), u loose to AQ/QQ/TT/AA/(KJ). U don't get value from worse (not much...), and u're in very bad shape vs his betting range... |

[/ QUOTE ] Not sure where you're getting me calling the turn...I didn't post what actually happened, but rather asked how others would play this spot. In the real hand I checked, Villain fired $65, and I folded for the exact reasons you mentioned above, namely that I'm not beating much. If I call, ultimately I'm praying for him to have KK (but I have one of them) or AK for the tie (but I have one of each of those, and the board has an A). He doesn't seem scared of me trapping with TT or QQ, so I thought he had exactly AA or QQ. Smooth calling his raise from the blind, IMO, eliminates KJ from my range, so there's no repping the nuts. Really I was curious if I should have led the flop, and for how much. c/f seems really nitty, but as mentioned above, this isn't the greatest flop for my hand given the PF action. After the hand I thought about whether i should have 4bet PF, as it might have gotten a fold from QQ. |
