Default When the opponent blocks the river: 50NL

Villain is 22/5/2-ish over 100 hands. So I should've bet more on the flop, but my question is in a spot like this, where villain makes what looks for all the world to be a blocking bet because he wants to see the showdown, is there any value in shoving?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Hero ($49.30)
SB ($49.50)
BB ($25.40)
UTG ($15.45)
UTG+1 ($50.45)
MP1 ($49.25)
MP2 ($45)
MP3 ($47.50)
CO ($83.30)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP2 raises to $2</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, Hero calls $2, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>.

Flop: ($4.75) 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
MP2 checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $3.5</font>, MP2 calls $3.50.

Turn: ($11.75) 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
MP2 checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $9</font>, MP2 calls $9.

River: ($29.75) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">MP2 bets $6</font>

worse hand wont call, and if he has a J he is losing value, just call here, he probably has busted flush draw with a pair

This is a terrible spot to shove.
If his bet really is just a block, you are almost always winning the showdown anyway. If he has you beat, he is calling.

So the idea is to get a call from worse hands b/c they put you on a bluff, right? Otherwise, I can't conceive of any reason to shove.
This board is scary enough that unless you have lots of history with villain he is folding any 2pair or less pretty much always.

I flat called and he showed KK. I felt like I'd missed value, but I guess that was due to my poor flop bet and the unfortunate river card. Thanks guys.

given his line I doubt he's calling a raise on the river.
