When the opponent blocks the river: 50NL
Villain is 22/5/2-ish over 100 hands. So I should've bet more on the flop, but my question is in a spot like this, where villain makes what looks for all the world to be a blocking bet because he wants to see the showdown, is there any value in shoving?

Re: When the opponent blocks the river: 50NL
worse hand wont call, and if he has a J he is losing value, just call here, he probably has busted flush draw with a pair

Re: When the opponent blocks the river: 50NL
This is a terrible spot to shove.
If his bet really is just a block, you are almost always winning the showdown anyway. If he has you beat, he is calling. So the idea is to get a call from worse hands b/c they put you on a bluff, right? Otherwise, I can't conceive of any reason to shove. This board is scary enough that unless you have lots of history with villain he is folding any 2pair or less pretty much always. |

Re: When the opponent blocks the river: 50NL
I flat called and he showed KK. I felt like I'd missed value, but I guess that was due to my poor flop bet and the unfortunate river card. Thanks guys.

Re: When the opponent blocks the river: 50NL
given his line I doubt he's calling a raise on the river.
