88 on Txx flop
No stats because my HUD is being stupid and not letting me interact with the tables im on.
little background: Im trying to learn to play more TAG. Ive always been extreamly LAG and am a winning player doing so, but it does tend to get me into trouble sometimes. Im trying to get back to the basics for this reason. My question is, is raising 8's here at least some % of the time correct? My feeling is that the response im going to get is that it's read dependant... which i obviously had none. Can I get some insite on first of all is raising vs. unknown throwing money away? and second of all which kind of player would i want to do this against (not do against?) and what kind of situations would be good for doing so? Thx. Sorry I didnt config the converter right. I have 88. Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) saw flop|<font color="#C00000">saw showdown</font> BB ($25.15) UTG ($33.45) Hero ($40) CO ($30.25) Button ($24.65) SB ($24.75) Preflop: <font color="#CC3333">UTG raises to $0.85</font>, Hero calls $0.85, <font color="#666666">4 folds</font>. Final Pot: $5.25 <font color="#009B00">Main Pot: $5.25, returned to Hero.</font> P.s. what do u think of my bet size?... What am im representing? what better hands is he folding? |

Re: 88 on Txx flop
well played.
I raise all pairs from UTG. I find limp calling with pocketpairs pretty transparent from TAGs. |

Re: 88 on Txx flop
Raising here is ok, this is such a dry flop that he can't really continue without a strong T/overpair/set.

[ QUOTE ] well played. I raise all pairs from UTG. I find limp calling with pocketpairs pretty transparent from TAGs. [/ QUOTE ] oh i mos def agree with this. I'm raising 88 all day preflop but my question was about postflop. Standard? [ QUOTE ] Raising here is ok, this is such a dry flop that he can't really continue without a strong T/overpair/set. [/ QUOTE ] This was my thought process as well as someone, much better than I, who what railing me at the time. It's not very often that he has one of these... so, betting here imo is fine given my table image is TAG. This is one of the kinda spots that I'm def adjusting to, given my image. |

Re: 88 on Txx flop
I feel like i have a better sense of where I'm at by doing so... perhaps I'm just unsure of what line I take on the turn and river. Say I call flop and depending on what the turn is, and what my opponents action is, how do i respond?
I def agree that this play is probably not standard but i can't help but think that doing this as I said in OP is an error so long as its only some % of the time. Not to mention my table image is uber TAG atm. Thoughts? |
