($24) Flopped a set vs. two regulars in the blinds. Max value?
Full Tilt Poker
No Limit Holdem Tournament Blinds: t20/t40 9 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: t555 UTG+1: t1335 MP1: t1530 MP2: t180 MP3: t2970 Hero: t1455 Button: t1420 SB: t1460 BB: t2595 Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is CO with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG folds, UTG+1 calls t40 (pot was t60), 3 folds, Hero raises to t160, Button folds, SB calls t140 (pot was t260), BB calls t120 (pot was t400), UTG+1 folds. Flop: 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (t520, 3 players) SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets t360. Both blinds are winning regulars. SB is very tight, BB is somewhat loose. Meh, looking in retrospect, I'm not sure me betting here is the best play. Or is it? |

I think a check behind can't be that bad.
You are setting a tarrrp. |

Risky, but I like a check better. We are repping JJ/QQ as well as KK. We give them a chance to hit a set too, so we can stack one of them, or an A.

checking behind is ok, gives you a better chance to stack them or at least get 2 streets of value.

Re: ($24) Flopped a set vs. two regulars in the blinds. Max value?
I think a bet is required here , but id bet smth like 250 , as a usual cheap cb in position, if they are winning regulars they might smell smth and reraise you with something interesting, or call and try to steal pot on turn, also if they have something good like tens for example theyd like to bet this flop and see where they stand, check fold sounds too passive for winning regulars in such case. So i dont think free card would make notable profit, while a diamond or 7- 5 might bring a flush-straight and beat you, and in this case miracle smaller set is probably not going to happen more often then better hand.
I think here you just can't extract more money by checking, because they are smart enough and would only bet out a hand that beats set of kings on turn, since in position such preflop raiser is like 100% betting this flop with anything but set? 360 is a bit scary, and also reduces your fold equity in their eyes, imo, so flop bluffs - bets become less likely. |

I probably bet 1/2 pot here to make it look more like a c-bet w/ TT-QQ.

I would put in something around have the pot, enough to give them about 3-1 here, for a good call. Then on the turn you can take it away from them with a large 2/3 pot sized bet. I like your bet here though because on the other hand you are forcing people close to making marginal calls with 56 from getting lucky on you. Raise a little less is my view.

I would definitely bet so you don't give flush draws a free card, probably around 250-275. Your bet may very well be read as a c-bet and winning regulars might call or checkraise you.

[/ QUOTE ] If I'm a winning regular and in a pot against a known winning regular who was the PFR I'm definitely not getting fancy since I know his range is going to be pretty narrow. |
