I live in poker hell, please help
I live in Richmond, Virginia, which seems to be as far from a poker room as you can get in the continental U.S. Right now I'm resigned to driving almost six hours to A.C.
Is there anywhere I can go that's closer for 1/2 or, better still, 2/5 or 3/5 NL? I am a serious poker addict so please, please help if you can. I heard something about West Virginia allowing poker, but I think they're still legislating that? |

Re: I live in poker hell, please help
You are indeed in a poker wasteland.
There's some limit games at the SunCruz Casino in Myrtle Beach, SC some 5+ hours south. And other than Atlantic City it looks like the next closest NL games are in southern Indiana, more than 8 hours away. Maybe you want to find some home games, depending on their legality in your area. Try the Home Poker forum here for some advice on finding a home game. |

Re: I live in poker hell, please help
While I don't have specific information for you, I have heard there are many home games in Richmond (mostly NL). I'd ask around or check out the home game sites.

Re: I live in poker hell, please help
WV poker should be up and running by the end of the year. Charleston and Wheeling should have very large rooms.

Re: I live in poker hell, please help
Maybe he's not a multitabling nit like 99% of the other people on this forum, and maybe he doesn't want to waste his life away sitting in front of a computer making decisions based on whether or not his opponents VPIP is 16 or 22.
It's simply laughable how many live poker posts get the same 2p2 mantra "go play online". In response to the original question, homepokergames is a good website to find home games as well as what would be considered underground/illegal clubs, etc. Not the best option, but may be your only one. |

Re: I live in poker hell, please help
Man didn't ask about online play. Re-read the original post. I'm pretty sure someone doesn't need to seek out 2p2 and then go to the trouble of starting a thread to simply find out that online poker exists and that he can play it.

Re: I live in poker hell, please help
I spoke to a man who lived in a city such as yours. He moved to play poker professionally in Las Vegas. I asked him what he did for a living in the city he moved from. He said "played poker". I couldn't believe it. In a city with no casino, he found games big enough to make a living at (or so he claims.) It really opened my eyes to what kind of poker was going on that I wasn't at all aware of.
