10NL: AA turns a set and curses
This hand caused me a lot of grief, and even after reviewing my session later on I'm still not sure what is the best line.
Villain (MP3) is a relatively bad player but not a cash cow. PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) saw flop SB ($12.05) BB ($8.35) Hero ($10.05) UTG+1 ($16.10) MP1 ($6.05) MP2 ($15.20) MP3 ($5) CO ($18.55) Button ($4.80) Preflop: Hero is UTG with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. MP3 posts a blind of $0.10. Hero raises to $0.4, 1 fold, MP1 calls $0.40, 1 fold, MP3 (poster) calls $0.30, 3 folds, BB calls $0.30. Flop: ($1.65) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players) BB bets $0.3, Hero raises to $1.8, MP1 folds, MP3 calls $1.80, BB folds. Turn: ($5.55) A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero curses and ...? Based on the game so far, I'm facing either two pair or a big queen and hence a made straight. If MP3 has a queen, I'm about 20/75 underdog, with 5-6% chance for a tie. How often am I still ahead here? Against a queen I know I'm getting bad odds all the way. In other words, c/f or shove, and most of all, why? |

Check, you can decide what to do if he bets.
Shoving allows him to play perfectly against you and accomplishes nothing. |

Re: 10NL: AA turns a set and curses
Shove you only have to be good 25% since villain is half stacked.

Re: 10NL: AA turns a set and curses
Villain only has 1/2 psb left so I think folding is a mistake.

Re: 10NL: AA turns a set and curses
You might as well just shove given the fatc that this is $10 NL and your opponent has a half stack to start the hand. He doens't have a T incredibly often here. If he were deeper stacked, I would check and re-eval.

Level?
Shove this all day every day with what villain has behind. |

The less mistakes (according to Sklansky's Fundamental Theorem of Poker) I make, the more I can expect to win. And why do I care? I plan to make my own way by climbing up the levels at some point. |

Re: 10NL: AA turns a set and curses
Can we please stop putting the emphasis on our replies on which level the hero is playing?! I do understand that you are going to get looked up by a lot of hands here at a lot of levels, not just 10NL. And the decision is mainly based on stacks sizes and odds to river a boat if behind. It has nothing to do with the level or the skill of the competition.
