Playing pocket pairs against regs
Someone, I won't name, told me it's horrible to cold call PP's against someone who is good in the blinds. Instead you should 3bet and cbet the board...
For example.. Note:It's 4 handed, so UTG is basically CO Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $2/$4 Blinds - 4 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter) Hero (SB): $712.90 BB: $184.90 UTG: $394.00 BTN: $400.00 Preflop: Hero is dealt 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 Players) UTG raises to $14.00, BTN folds, Hero raises to $54.00, BB folds, UTG calls $40.00 Flop: ($112) 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players) Hero bets $72.00 Now can someone tell me if this is true or is this going to get me into alot of [censored] |

Re: Playing pocket pairs against regs
as long as you're not doing it every time you're dealt a PP...
if you have to play a huge pot to play these at all (RR + cbet), you can see how your opponents are winning when they have position on you |

Re: Playing pocket pairs against regs
i agree with this. not complety but to a certain degree. against some some good regs i wont call with small pp from the blinds and instead 3bet with medium one (66+).

Re: Playing pocket pairs against regs
I love to 3-bet my pp in position and from the blinds, but wouldnt dare to bet them out on such a coordinated board.

I don't mind a call... but I'm not only calling for set value, I will CR bluff some good flops as well.

Re: Playing pocket pairs against regs
This isnt a very nice flop. I think not c-betting here is fine a lot since this nails his range imho. But about your question i think this is good, but you def shouldnt do it every time. FOlding is probably sometimes and more often better than anything player dependent of course.

Re: Playing pocket pairs against regs
I think this is pretty bad. If he opens light but folds to alot of 3bets then sure I don't mind it, but players like that are rare. Your 3bet is going to be called too often, and your hand is not gonna fare well enough postflop very often either.
Just call. |
