Trop v. Hilton AC
Can someone please list the pluses and minuses of each of these cardrooms. Actually any input on Caesers, showboat, and Harrahs would also be appreciated. I have only played at the trop out of these casinos and I'm headin up there in a couple of weeks and thinking about trying some new places. Which places have the best games (1/2), best comps, food, etc. Thanks for any input.

Re: Trop v. Hilton AC
Pros for Hilton: - Better poker room rate ($30 vs. ~$70) - Nicer looking poker room - Nicer hotel rooms (IMHO, some disagree) - Better comps (generally $2/hour vs. $1/hour) - Beer in bottles (Trop only has some cheap beer in cups) Pros for Tropicana: - Much wider range of games offered (Hilton only consistanly runs 1/2 NL and 2/4 Limit) - Poker room rate more readily available - Pink chip game - Better food selection within casino (both buffets suck though) - A little closer to other stuff on the boardwalk In terms of game selection, 1/2 NL games vary much more by table than by casino. If you are only playing 1/2, I don't see much reason to choose Trop over Hilton. If you want to play higher stakes, Hilton doesn't have much to offer. |

Thanks a lot. Would you choose any of Caesers, Showboat, or Harrahs ahead of either the Trop or Hilton?

Where do you usually play? I played at the trop a lot last winter and early this summer and I like it there. I just want to check out a couple of other places.

Like book the room, show up that morning get a card and just start playing until check-in time? I've actually never successfully gotten the poker rate at Taj or Trop either because i always wait til the last minute (3-4 days in advance) |

Choogle, Where do you usually play. Can you give your impressions of the games relative to the games at the trop? [/ QUOTE ] I'm not a regular at the Trop, usually during the summer when I'm down with friends we hang out around there and I'll play a couple of hours. Overall, I'm down there once a month or so, more in the summer. If you're playing 1/2NL I would say action-wise it's going to be pretty similar anywhere in AC (speaking on weekends since that's when I'm down there). I agree with the poster above, your table selection is probably a lot more important than the casino you play in. So pretty much you are going to pick according to other stuff like comps, girls, drinks, etc. I mostly play at Borgata, nice room/chips, girls are hot and drinks come pretty quick. However, comps-wise I would say Borgata is the worst of all of them. However for me, the $1 or $2 an hour isn't enough to make me pick one over the other. Though if Hilton has this poker rate that might make it worth it to start playing there. long story short: Borgata for overall experience, Hilton for comps I'd say based on what I've read around here. PS> Do not tilt when your AA/KK gets cracked by 45s it will happen a LOT edit: I think the standard action for any 1/2 game is pretty much as follows: - There can be a raise preflop to $15 from any player in any position. - There will be 4-5 callers, the 2 blinds will always call because they have to defend their blinds right? (lol) - I don't even know where to go from here because you will sit there and see all kinds of [censored] happen. Don't be afraid to play a lot of suited connectors or low pocket pairs from late position because you will usually get the odds and you will get paid off if you hit. |

It just depends on whether they have rooms available, which is seasonal for the most part. Also, they generally don't like booking poker rate rooms more than a week in advance. |
