Exchanging Currency in Niagara
ok, i swear, this is my 2nd to last post about Niagara, other than my trip report once i get back!
but... where does one get the best currency exchange rate? i'm assuming not at the casino itself. I've heard banks are the best for this, but i've also heard banks will rip you off. what do you all recommend? also, where's the best place to turn CAD back into USD? last time, i waited until i got back to Pittsburgh, and it was a pain finding a bank that would give me anything close to the exchange rate. |

Re: Exchanging Currency in Niagara
You are going to get screwed by the exchange rate everywhere, he casino is going to give you one of the best rates actually going to Canadian. The best way to get rid of the Canadian is to try and sell it to someone waiting in line for the cage for the rate going from US to Canadian, it should save you about $.02 on a dollar and no one is really getting a raw deal.

Re: Exchanging Currency in Niagara
Worst thing about Casino Niagara is the fact that if you exchanged money....never gambled...and exchanged money back to american you will not get the entire amount back, therefore you are behind before you begin

Re: Exchanging Currency in Niagara
The casino definitely gives the best exchange rate. Duty free isn't bad but it's not the best.
And make sure you get a players card so you can park for free in their ramp rather than paying something outrageous like 12 bucks. |

Thats my favorite part... "Here, $1000 US into Canadian, please." Teller: "Ok, that will be $1130 Canadian." Patron: "Oops..here, take the Canadian back and turn it back into American please" Teller: "Ok, that will be $960 American." |

awesome, thanks.
and Groundhog, how recently have you been there? when i was up there over the summer, there was free parking. my hotel is ridiculously close by, so that shouldn't be an issue anyhow. |

Re: Exchanging Currency in Niagara
If you are only looking to exchange a couple of hundred bucks, any ATM outside the casino should give you a good rate. You can also take Candadian bills (not change) to your home bank and they'll swap it for a decent rate. |

Re: Exchanging Currency in Niagara
like most said , do it at the cage, just make sure you excahnge before you come back over.
Also if your staying for a few days keep a hundo or 2 on you for meals and such, the shops and resturants inside there have w worse exchange rate if i recall correct and Deff do outside the casino |

You aren't finding a better rate than in the casino.

[/ QUOTE ] I was there about a month ago...free parking with the players club card, but pretty expensive without it. |
