Default NL50 AJ gets minraised on river

Villain is 18/3/2.67 over 100 hands. I thought his range was mostly low pocket pairs when he called on the flop, so I checked turn. I bet because I don't want him to check behind with a lower pair. Do you call the raise?

Every time I play a hand like this I wonder what I was thinking on the turn. What is the purpose of the turn check? Pot control? Are you calling a pot sized bet?
You end up putting yourself in a tough spot where it's hard to tell where you stand, not to mention give him a chance to draw to a straight or flush or 5 out draw. Now you are getting 4 to 1 on this river, so it appears your opponent is value betting, but I look him up anyway since you only need to be good a little more than 20%.

Bet turn.

As played call river. It's really hard to put villain on a hand here - nothing makes sense, except maybe AA lol. Anyways call - you have enough equity imo.

I bet 10 on the turn. I don't raise AJs from the BB though.

I'd expect to see AQ, 88 or 99 a lot here. I probably bet fold turn, if he calls then it's more difficult, as played it might be better to check the river or bet a little less, afterall what worse hands are calling that bet on the end.

Regards Mack
