MacBook Pro 2.2ghz 128vid ram vs 2.4ghz 256 vid ram
I am strongly considering buying a MacBook Pro as my old laptop is showing its age. My plan if I buy this is to run Parallels for WinXP as well.
I can get a 2.2ghz Macbook Pro with 128mb vid card for $1799 with student discount, or a 2.4ghz MacBook Pro with a 256 vid card for $2299. The only difference in laptops is the slightly faster processor speed and 128megs of ram difference in video card speed. Is this worth $500? My main uses of the laptop is Poker, World of Warcraft, Computer courses. Would I regret not paying for the faster vid card? |

as a long time mac user/lover, i would recommend just getting a Dell or soemthing. you get much more bang for your buck. especially if you don't "need" the mac os, since it seems like you are using mostly windows stuff.
if you do go this route, i'd get teh better vid card if you're going to run wow. i think my buddy got a sick dell, for around that price, that was way better then the macs. i'm an apple fan boy so i'd get the macbook pro. |

I definitely "don't need" the Mac. I was just thinking that it might be a good career investment though to at least have some experience with the OS. Also it just seems from most sources that MacBooks hardware wise are amazing compared to other laptops.
I'm also looking for portability in the form of size/weight and the Macbook at 5pounds is more appealing then a bulky Alienware or Sager. |
