Wanted to know odds of something
The other day my friend and I were playing in a 1-2NL game in Atlantic City. We saw the following happen.
Guy flopped quads with pocket 3's. Very next hand he turns quads with pocket kings, and loses that hand to a royal flush. I am wondering what the specific odds would be that we would ever see that happen again. Same guy gets quads back to back, and loses with the 2nd one to a royal flush. Any ideas? Thanks Jared |

Re: Wanted to know odds of something
This should be posted in the probability forum .
In order for a player to flop quads , he needs to be dealt a pocket pair which is 78/1326 , and he needs 2 more cards and a third card (48 of them )to be dealt on the flop . 78/1326*48/50c3 ~ 0.00014405 The probability he gets quads twice on the flop is (0.00014405)^2 ~ 0.00000002075. The probability he flops quads twice and loses to a straight flush on the second hand is much lower than that number above . Does he flop quads twice or does he ever hit his quads on the turn or river ? |

Re: Wanted to know odds of something
sorry didn't even see the probability forums. He flops quads the first time, the very next hand he turns quads with KK. The other guy rivers a royal flush to beat him. So I am kinda trying to figure out the odds of the combination happening. Flop quads, next hand get quads again and lose to a royal. Is it like 1 in a billion?
Thanks |

Re: Wanted to know odds of something
It will be more rare than 1 in a billion that those specific events will happen again .

Re: Wanted to know odds of something
I played like 3000 hands today and I think I had trips twice.

Re: Wanted to know odds of something
A bit off topic, but did the Quads vs. RF qualify for a Bad Beat Jackpot? Oh! the pain for the person with Quads if it didn't!
