22$ MTT - AK played too fast?
villain seemed decent. did I play AK too fast here? My thought was that I wanted to avoid situations where I have AK high at the flop and have to fold to his bet. did I miss value here from this premium hand?

Re: 22$ MTT - AK played too fast?
looks good for me
with blinds (and antes 75?) there is about 8k in the pot so a reraise not shoving will commit you anyway. another possibility would be to call with position and reorientate on the flop, but as you can win 20% of your stack immediately i prefer pushing here. |

Calling isn't bad in position, but I prefer shoving.
An option that's not bad against a decent player is to call and shove any CB. Not something I do much. I really don't like it all that much, but it's an option. I still prefer shoving. |

If you are scared to play AK postflop, it's better to RR to 15000/call shove, or get it in on any flop. A lot of the value in AK comes from the ability to semi-bluff preflop. You negate this "value" when u overbet the pot it b/c it narrows your range too much. |

[/ QUOTE ] That is quite right, but doesn't matter imo. Much more important is, that beside the FE about half the value (2/5 to be accurate) of AK comes from seeing all 5 cards after the flop, where your chance to improve is 45%. On the flop you will improve only in 30% and will have to fold to a bet from OR. So as long as the pot is worth winning (and here it is) i will shove AK. |
