How many tables should I play at a time to learn the fastest?
I am not looking for 1, 2, 3 or 4 here, I am looking for some guidelines.
Currently I believe the optimal number is the maximum number of tables you can play and still almost always have time to find the right move before time-constraints force you to make a move you havenīt thought properly through yet. 1) What do you think of that? What I mean is that the more hands you play per hour, the more hands you can learn from per hour. But if the moves come too quickly after each other, you donīt have time to learn from them, you are just fighting to keep up the pace. Assuming I am correct, how should I go about adding tables? I am thinking it is time to add a table (and temporarily moving down a level or two at the same time) when you feel the action is too slow. 2) What do you think of that? |

Everything but one table sucks in the beginning. You will learn a lot just by playing one table and really (I mean REALLY) think about your game while playing.

Re: How many tables should I play at a time to learn the fastest?
I realize that I currently learn the fastest by playing 1 table, but will it always be so?
I mean, there are people who 3-table. Would they learn faster by single-tabling than they would by 2-tabling or 3-tabling? (By "learn" I mean learn to play better poker, not to play more tables at a time.) |

[/ QUOTE ] That depends on how long you have been playing. In the beginning one table is by far the best imo but when you move on and get a good idea of the game I think you can add another table. Personally I pretty much always play two tables, that's perfect for me. When adding a third I it gets two much (but that's very individual I think). In my opinion the key is to WANT to improve as a player and basically think about optimal strategies. I started a thread about "how to improve as a player" earlier and got a lot of good thoughts from good players here. Look back a couple of pages and you'll find it. |

I have never been huge with muti-tabling even at 6 max but HU 1 table is way eaisier to get good reads than 2 which is my max.

i suck at 2 tabling...but i pwn at 1 table. actually if you could learn to 2 table i think it would be a great thing to have as you'd get huge rakeback and $$$.

Re: How many tables should I play at a time to learn the fastest?
If you jump straight into 3 tabling there will be smaller details you won't be able to pick up on because you won't have time to really put thought into the situation.
Ideally you should be learning to play on 1 table then adding more as you feel confident. If you absolutely can't start with only 1 table then the next best move would probably be to multi table at lower stakes where you have more of an edge. |
