FTP $75DS: Flop Mid-pair+gutter on a heavy ranked board
Villian likes to take flops and seems like a good aggressive postflop player, but it's early. What's your play here?

Fold, why get involved with a non-nut straight draw and 3 other ppl to act for a piddling pot.

C/r by BB is unlikely on this board, but texture also makes it tough for LP to stab at with BP/air. OOP, with your stack, i think this is too speculative/tough to play profitably. |

To me, a 2/3 bet into three people seems an awful lot like (a) Qx, who wants to pull the pot down before something nasty comes on the turn, or (b) OESD, who would be happy to pull the pot down now but doesn't mind building a pot for a potential monster. It seems to me that the way to deal with either of those would be to raise here. But the problems are (a) you're not deep enough to get paid if you hit an out or to fire again if you hit a blank, and (b) there are still two others to act, one of whom may have hit the flop solidly and is check-raising. So all in all, I think it's a fold. |

Re: FTP $75DS: Flop Mid-pair+gutter on a heavy ranked board
With mpwk and a draw to the non-nut straight out of position, there's no point in getting any more money in. Limps can mean a wide range of hands which fit much better with this board than your current holding. There's nothing worse than paying for your draw, hitting it, then getting stacked when someone was holding a stronger draw.

Re: FTP $75DS: Flop Mid-pair+gutter on a heavy ranked board
Looks like a fold to me, OOP, multiway, if you hit your straight draw your implied odds don't look that good. Calling is out.
The sexier possiblity is the CR representing two pair / made straight hoping from a bet by the aggro flop player. You figure you have FE + outs. You could raise an amount leaving you with a PSB on the turn and then fire on any turn. That's not terrible, though given that Viillain is firing a PSB into 4 players, I imagine he has two pair/KQ a good percent of the time (or made straight). Whether he sniffs you out to making a semi bluff or mentally develops the balls to call you given that he has you covered by a lot are considerations not likely in your favor. I think that this is a fold given these circumstances. But, C/R is better than calling here given your stack. Barry |

Re: FTP $75DS: Flop Mid-pair+gutter on a heavy ranked board
Your stack just isnt big enough here. Were clearly behind, prolly with 6 outs or something, and we dont have sufficient stack to get paid enough to warrant it. When we brick the turn if we call, then what. Surely we face another bet that we dont want to call with only our 6 outs still. When we do hit, how much do we get paid? Compare that to how likely it is to happen, we just cant speculate.
Its plenty early, lets flop a bigger hand before we tangle. 4Card |
