Default NL 50 aBB beginner question

Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Button ($86.10)
SB ($37.25)
Hero ($54.35)
UTG ($10.15)
UTG+1 ($50)
MP1 ($49.75)
MP2 ($57.45)
MP3 ($49.25)
CO ($20)

Preflop: Hero is BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, MP2 calls $0.50, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, CO checks, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: ($2) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(5 players)</font>
SB checks, Hero?

I always have dificulty in these situations.. any advice?

It is tough. I don't think a bet is bad, but I think if it were me, I might just check and see what happens. If no one bets and the turn is harmless (no [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] or straight card or overcard) I might take a shot. My reasoning is I don't want to get involved too heavily in a multi-way limped pot without a strong hand and ours isn't terribly strong. By checking we may also see a bet and a raise behind us indicating we should fold and we can save our bet...

But if you bet, I don't think that's a bad move either, but if you get raised or you get mutliple callers better watch out.

Check/Raise might actually be the cheapest way to get away from this hand if you are beat and it might get some better hands to fold also.

I prefer betting out in these spots, especially at passive / weakish tables. I like to take down these pots as fast as possible..
