Default lame to carry a blackberry?

if you're an undergraduate? I really like the 8300 "curve" model, and would prefer one to an i-phone, but I also don't want to be 'that guy' walking around with a blackberry as an undergraduate. I go to a university where there are a lot of pretentious dudes, but I don't count myself among them.

So what do you guys think? Blackberry 8300, i-phone, or is there another way? For what it's worth I have a bad track record of breaking phones in games of beirut, football, you name it, but i figure taht one of these smartphones will bring me in line.

Thanks in advance.

Student Life would be a really good forum to pose this question.

Agree. These don't look pretentious at all, just a slick looking kickass phone. If you're gonna buy any phone from ATT right now this should be it.
