Re: What´s exactly?
A weak-tight player is one who is both tight and passive, essentially. They do not play many hands, they rarely raise, and they fold way too much even with strong hands. They're usually the types you see in a casino who only play JJ-AA and AK, and get mad every time someone beats them with "junk" like QTs. They rarely if ever bluff.

[/ QUOTE ] I don't agree with the complaints about getting beaten by junk. Weak tight play means playing tightly (only starting with very strong hands, not the good hands that are still profitable) and weakly, which means folding too often, and shutting down too quickly after encountering resistance. Rather than complaining about being beaten, the weak tight player will be the one who is proud of making amazing laydowns, folding two pair face up after getting raised when the turn brings a third card of a suit. They are vulnerable to semi-bluffs and bluffs because they are too easily convinced that their opponents have strong hands, or whatever draw just hit. They will also not charge you enough when they have a strong hand, but worry that you might have a stronger one. Lee Jones is associated with some weak tight play because his book, Winning Low Limit Hold'em, advocates many plays which seem to be weak-tight. While there are many good points in that book, and a weak-tight playing style will lose a lot less than most novices' styles, weak-tight play is not an effective way to beat low stakes games. |

[/ QUOTE ] That's fair enough - I would agree with you, but I was trying to encorporate all the things you might find under descriptions of weak-tight players (I think Ed Miller describes the complaining as one possible attribute of a weak-tight player in NLHETAP). |
