Default please help me find this book (+time travel books discussion)

El D, I ask for your indulgence on this, as I feel this forum's posters are my best bet:

I'm looking to find a book I read in the 80s. It's a science fiction book called Time Slip or Time Frame or Time-something that was absolutely fantastic but I can't for the life of me remember the real title.

It was about a man in his 40s who suddenly finds himself back in college, looking like a young man to everyone but himself. He takes advantage of the situation by doing things differently with his love life, as well as making a fortune sports betting on games he "remembers."

After a few years, he slips back in time yet again to the same point in college.

At one point he wonders if there are others like him and posts classified ads asking if people "miss" TV shows and movies that haven't been made yet...

He keeps living forward but then slipping back to the same starting point, in a steadily decreasing amount.

Example:

His first time slip lasts ten years....the next one lasts 5 years, then 2 1/2 years, etc...until at the end he's slipping every minute/30 seconds/15 seconds and so on.

Very cool book.

I wish to hell I could remember the name or the author....a google search hasn't helped me...I know that someone in this forum knows the book I'm talking about...

and if it helps make this post more interesting, why not a discussion on your favorite time travel books/short stories?

One of the best is A Martian Timeslip by Philip K. Dick.

Yep, the book is Replay by Ken Grimwood. Just read it a few months ago and found it pretty interesting.

Yeah, I noticed Dominic's description sounded more interesting than the Amazon description.

I noticed that too! Could I be thinking of a different book? I doubt it as the Amazon description is just too close to the book I remember - even though I don't remember anyone trying to "help" mankind or a secondary character who is going through the same thing...
